Rabbits Section

The Rabbits are the high handicapper team for the Club. This means that if your handicap is 12.5 or above you are eligible to play for the team. We play matches against other clubs in the Dyfed region in a league organised by the Rabbits Three Counties Summer League.

The Rabbits is open to both men and women and the Glyn Abbey Rabbits actively support women's participation.

Rabbits golf is meant to be fun, although there is a competitive element to the matches it's more important to have a good time rather than worry too much about the result.

Currently there is one league which comprises of 14 teams, with matches home and away against clubs such as Garnant, South Pembs, Milford Haven, Tenby, Carmarthen and Glynhir. Matches are usually held on a Sunday - click on Rabbits Fixtures for more details.

Usually there are 13 League fixtures- 6 home , 7 away which includes a cup match once a year against Ashburnham Rabbits.

Every June there is also the Rabbits Open, held at one of the courses affiliated to the league. This is a great day with usually over 100 players from the league competing in both Individual and Team competitions.  Next year Glyn Abbey will host the Rabbits Open!

Matches are social as well as competitive, and a meal is arranged at the end of the match. The cost is typically a maximum of £13

The format is pairs four ball better ball matchplay, i.e the best net score of our pair against the best net score of the pair they are playing on each hole.

The team comprises a minimum of 6 pairs or more, dependent on the amount of players the away team can bring. The Rabbits Captain will then arrange the pairs as he sees fit, in order of play.

When playing away we arrange transport amongst ourselves as appropriate, generally taking it in turns to drive and sharing the cost of petrol. Very occasionally we might take a bus to make it more of an outing if everyone so desires.

We have also been known in the past to stay overnight in Aberystwyth or Tenby, which is great socially (but this can affect the level of golf played the following day!!)

We try when we can to wear team shirts and, whilst not seeking to be overly formal, change into a shirt and Club tie for the meal and (short) speeches and results.

The Rabbits are always on the look out for new members. Anyone interested in finding out more about getting involved with the Rabbits should contact this years Captain Kevin Williams on the contact number above, or ask Mike Davies, our Professional, who will register your interest and pass on your details.

Rabbits Golf is a fun, social way of meeting your fellow members and playing some lovely local courses at a much reduced fee.
