The Abbey Course
The Abbey Course is 6202 yards off the white tees, par 70. The yellow tees reduce this to 5980 yards and, for the ladies, it is 5407 yards with a par of 73.
Designed by Dr Martin Hawtree himself it naturally has one of the best layouts around.
The course is parkland in the truest sense of the word, offering spectacular views over the picturesque Gwendraeth Valley, not a car in sight or earshot and backdrops of the ancient Trimsaran woodland to many holes.
Every hole on the Abbey Course is unique and none crosses over another. The course is set in around 200 acres, allowing a generous amount of space around each hole.
The course is built on the site of a former opencast coal mine and, in addition to the existing historic woodland, around 35,000 new trees were planted. It opened for play in 1992.
Greens average 500sq m in area and are constructed to full USGA standards, making them free draining for year round use.
